Another Flood....

Well this time it gets downright scary right away.  Today, after more measurable precipitation than this little midwestern town can handle, we approach "flood stage."

I started the afternoon thinking about how overworked our sump pump must be.  Realizing that it was dutifully pumping water right out of my basement (we are dry) and depositing it about 2 feet away from my house.  (Ha!  And right back in...)

Off to Lowe's I went for the "kit"...

Yep-that is a leak~and my snazzy rainboot.  Shhh...don't tell the hubby.  I assured him I could do this alone.  Muah!

Sump pump is much less tired now.
but WOW.  Trying to get things tightened while in between bursts of water, kah-razy!
My home is as taken care of as it gets for the flood.  I wish I could say as much for my community!  We already fear that we have lost a Dept of Transportation employee who was working on the ice dams and went into the river.  My thoughts are continuous to him, his family and loved ones...

I ventured to the river this afternoon to see for myself the force of mother nature as the waters rise.
"Fury" is the only word I can use to describe the current.  I watched large branches or small trees floating by at top speed.  Let's hope for a fast recovery.

Ready?? Set?? GO!

Ok--it is SOOO time for this.  5 weeks. 5 Hot spots.  I am following SimpleMom
and apparently we are tackling the closet/wardrobe today.  This is what I am doing when I get home in a couple of hours.....if you don't hear from me...send in reinforcements.  Seriously.  It's scary in there.

It's her JOB.

Having a toddler or tow or three or four (in my case-although not all at once) you learn a few things.  Little Miss Pink has her own rituals.  Her "job" as my friend calls it.  "It's her JOB."  No..it's not shopping-although she does love the mall.
It is something far more exciting for her...and it keeps a momma on her toes.  She is a DECLUTTERER!  Or more accurately--she is my inspiration to declutter.  she starts with a daily trip to the pantry.  I clearly have too many things filling my pantry.  This has inspired me to "use what I have" before shopping again!

Loving the cocoa...

See??  Too much STUFF mom.  What do you call this?

We should be stocking more HEALTHY options...She found 5 boxes of scalloped potatoes this day.  She opened 2 of them.  I can't tell you how long they have been in there.  Tossed.

Whole wheat pasta....not so bad.....

Ok--she has moved on to under the sink~just keepin me real!

Yep.  You have nasty chemicals in here.  Why don't you have a few garbage bags and get rid of that stuff???

OK--point taken. Guilt felt.  Chemicals gone.  I am moving onto GREEN options.
~for the record--she looks simply so unimpressed with me~

And as not to add insult to injury...she helps me clean up after her job is done.
yes--the swiffer is going away as soon as my norwex mop comes in!

And now that THAT is done--we have more time for the important stuff!
